In morning hours of December of 1972, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada was reading Krishna book on a Sub-way Metro Station in Hamburg, Germany while awaiting for the train to arrive. I had been sitting next to him and was eager to know the contents of the book. Because those days, it was almost impossible to find Vedic literature in the West, I requested the disciple to handover the Krishna book to me in order to glimpse it. The disciple was clever, he knew that I am attracted to Krishna, as such he offered the recently printed Krishna book to me for five Marks. In a way, that was a lot of Lakshmi for a paper bound book. I wanted to exchange it for a banana which I had for breakfast, and offered him. He won’t accept any thing or gift in exchange, so he said: Please pay Five German Marks. Now I had the Krishna book in my hand, and didn’t want to give him back, there was no choice except to open my wallet and donate Five Marks to him. He was from Michigan – a place where I was interested to go in future and teach Naval Architecture in future. Five years later, I met in a Sauna in Stavanger, Norway three disciples of Srila Prabhupada. That renewed my contacts with Krishna Consciousness. I cooked prasadam for them, assisted them in their laundry and in exchange I received not only their mercy but a lot of Krishna Conscious books and devotional records. Since 1977, my connection with ISKCON became stronger and stronger. My latest sewa has been to establish under the guidance of His Holiness Ganapati Swami [ ACBSP ] a GOSHALA in Phoenix, Arizona, USA http://www.azgoshala.org On the otherhand, the ISKCON Temple management has been so much upset that we 21+ devotees, Life Members, congregational supporters have been banned for more than 400 days even to have darshan of deities at the Sri Sri Radha MadhavaHari Dham, ISKCON of Phoenix .
